Next meeting of Armenian, Azerbaijani FMs could be held in one of MG co-chairing countries
2019-04-18 18:24:39

The next meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan could be held in one of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries, Spokesperson for the Armenian Foreign Ministry Anna Naghdalyan has said.

“The opportunity of holding the next meeting in one of the co-chairing countries is being discussed, taking into consideration the geography of previous such meetings,” Naghdalyan said in a statement.

She advised to refrain from unilateral notifications and “public negotiations” as long as the issue is being discussed.

Naghdalyan added that “announcing a meeting in one of the co-chairing countries beforehand is disrespect for the participants of the process, but first of all, for the given co-chairing country.”

“The aspiration to announce agreements yet to be reached does not contribute to the formation of a normal working environment based on reciprocal trust,” she said.

The statement comes in the wake of the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov's announcement that the next meeting of the Foreign Ministers will take place in Washington.

Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov last met in Moscow on April 15 at the initiative of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
