The first living donor liver transplantation has been carried out in Armenia. A part of liver has been transplanted from daughter to mother, giving her a chance to live, Minister of Healthcare Arsen Torosyan said in a Facebook post.
The surgery has been carried out at Astghik Medical center in Yerevan with support from Russian partners.
The transplantation has been carried out free of charge, while a similar procedure would cost about $100.000 abroad, the Minister said.
He added that the Ministry is planning to add the budget for more interventions to save more human lives.
