German Chancellor Angela Merkel has congratulated Armenia’s acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on victory in the early parliamentary election.
“The Federal Republic of Germany has followed the peaceful change of government in the Republic of Armenia this year with great interest,” Mrs. Merkel said in a statement.
“We would also like to continue to support the Republic of Armenia on its reform path, building on the deepening of our bilateral relations agreed during our visit to Yerevan,” she added.
The early parliamentary elections in Armenia saw acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s My Step bloc win a landslide victory with over 70 percent of the votes. It will be joined by Prosperous Armenia Party and Bright Armenia to form the new National Assembly.
