Armenia captain Henrikh Mkhitaryan has made it to the BBC’s Team of the Week after scoring two goals in Arsenal’s Sunday clash against Southampton.
"We've seen flashes of brilliance from Mkhitaryan when he was at Manchester United so we know he can play,” BBC pundit Gareth Crooks says. “However what we are seeing at Arsenal is a player who has been made to feel he belongs at the club,” the pundit says.
According to Crooks, “Mkhitaryan’s performances - not to mention his two goals against Southampton - certainly look like it.”
Mkhitaryan scored a brace – his first in the Premier league- in Arsenal’s 3-2 defeat to Southampton.
The midfielder has now scored as many Premier League goals for Arsenal in 25 games as he did for Manchester United in 39 (five).
Goalkeeper Vicente Guaita (Crystal Palace), defenders Jamaal Lascelles (Newcastle), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) and Jose Holebas (Watford), midfielders Gerard Deulofeu (Watford), Luka Milivojevic (Crystal Palace) and Eden Hazard (Chelsea), forwards - Danny Ings (Southampton), Salomon Rondon (Newcastle) and Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City) also made it to the team of the week.
