Armenia reiterates its stance of prioritizing Nagorno Karabakh’s status and security in the negotiation package, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Anna Naghdalyan has said.
She called for restraint in public statements, thus contributing to talks. According to her, this particularly refers to attempts to present own unilateral stance as a precondition. “No one should determine the fate of Nagorno Karabakh instead of its people,” Naghdalyan said.
The comments come in the wake of a statement by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammedyarov. He said earlier today that “Baku is ready to ensure the security of the Armenian population of Nagorno Karabakh and provide broad autonomy.”
The Spokesperson added that “preconditions and threats can have no effect on our stance in the negotiations.”
“Expressions of optimism or pessimism are equally effective tools \in terms of affecting the process. It’s necessary to be realistic and be committed to finding a solution acceptable to all,” Anna Naghdalyan stated.
