Eight have been arrested on suspicion of conducting illegal excavations in Diyarbakir. Four of the detainees are policemen, Akunq.net reports.
According to the report, the policemen brought an armored car to create an impression that the actions are legal.
The eight-member group only managed to dig a 1-meter deep hole, before they were detained on the ground.
After being questioned at the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Department of Diyarbakir, the suspects were sent to the Justice Department, where they said they had been searching for the gold and money hidden by PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party).
However, the investigation has revealed that the group was looking for treasures left after Armenians.
