Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan will stay in jail. The Court of Appeals has refused to revoke the verdict of the first instance court.
On January 18 the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction ruled to extend his detention for two months and rejected his lawyers’ appeal to release him on bail.
His lawyers will take the case to the European Court of Human Rights.
Robert Kocharyan is charged with overthrowing the constitutional order during the March 1 unrest that followed the 2008 presidential elections.
