Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today led a march in Yerevan dedicated to the anniversary of the tragic March 1 events of 2008. The Prime Minister was joined by his spouse Anna Hakobyan and daughters.
The participants rallied from the Freedom Square, marched along Mashtots Avenue and Grigor Lusavorich Street towards Myasnikyan statue.
Nikol Pashinyan laid a wreath at the statue and paid tribute to the memory of the victims.
In an address issued earlier today the Prime Minister said the march aims to “pay tribute to the victims of March 1 and all political killings.”
“We will thereby say a decisive NO to violence, injustice, lawlessness, corruption, electoral fraud and violation of rights,” he stated.
The unrest that followed the presidential elections of 2008 saw eight civilians and two police killed, many were injured.
Investigation into the events is still under way.
