Armenia insists that it the country should retain the post of the OSCE Secretary General.
“The normative basis does not imply any concrete solutions connected with impossibility of performance of the Secretary General’s duties,” Armenia’s acting Foreign Minister Zohrab Mantsakanyn said in an interview with TASS.
Second, he said, all decisions are being taken by consensus. Third, he added, the authority and viability and effectiveness of the organization are of key importance to Armenia.
“As a CSATO member, we are interested in a strong organization and are contributing to this,” Mnatsakanyan said.
“We initiated the process of suspending the powers of the Secretary General, as there were domestic legal problems with him. We did it to diversify the organization and our domestic affairs,” the acting Foreign Minister stated.
He said the approach is meant to reinforce the organization’s activity as a whole and strengthen the consolidation between the six member states.
